Home / Services

Plan it, build it, look after it.

Five kinds of work, one crew. Hire us for a single job or the whole yard. Every project starts with a visit and a conversation.

Landscape design

A plan for the whole yard, drawn before anything gets dug up.

We start with a visit: how you use the yard now, what you want to change, where the sun and the water go. Then we draw it. You get a scaled plan you can hold, mark up and come back to.

What’s included

  • Site visit with measurements and photos
  • Scaled plan drawing of the whole yard
  • Planting plan with what goes where and why
  • Written estimate, broken down by area
  • Revisions until it feels right

Good to know: you can build a plan all at once or in phases over a few seasons. We mark the phases on the drawing.

Hardscape

Patios, walkways, walls and fire pits, built on a proper base.

Most patio problems start underground. We dig out, lay and compact a real base, and set every stone to drain away from the house. The result stays flat and solid for years.

What’s included

  • Natural stone and paver patios
  • Walkways, steps and stepping-stone paths
  • Retaining walls and seat walls
  • Fire pits and gathering areas
  • Drainage fixes around hard surfaces

Good to know: hardscape can go in most of the year. Winter is a good time to book it, before the spring rush.

Planting

Beds, trees and shrubs that suit the spot and the way you live.

We pick plants for the light, the soil and how much care you want to give them. Lots of natives and pollinator plants, arranged so something is always looking good.

What’s included

  • New beds and bed renovations
  • Trees and shrubs, placed for the long run
  • Native and pollinator gardens
  • Soil prep and amendment for Virginia clay
  • Spring bulbs and seasonal color

Good to know: fall is the best time to plant trees and shrubs here. Spring works for most perennials.

Lawn and seasonal care

Regular care, so the yard looks finished every week, not just after the build.

Pick weekly, every other week or seasonal visits. The same crew comes each time, so they learn your yard, your gate code and where the dog likes to dig.

What’s included

  • Mowing, string trimming, edging and blowing
  • Spring and fall cleanups
  • Mulch, bed weeding and shrub pruning
  • Aeration and overseeding
  • Leaf removal through the fall

Good to know: care plans run by the season, March to February. You can pause or change one at any time.

Irrigation and outdoor lighting

Water where it’s needed. Light where you want to sit.

A good irrigation system uses less water, not more. A good lighting plan makes paths safe and the garden worth looking at after dark. We design and install both, and look after them.

What’s included

  • Drip and spray irrigation, zoned by plant type
  • Smart controllers and rain sensors
  • Spring start-up and fall shut-down
  • Low-voltage path, step and tree lighting
  • String lights and patio lighting

Good to know: lighting and irrigation are easiest to add while a patio or bed is being built. Ask about them early.

Every yard is different.

So every estimate is too. Tell us what you have in mind and we’ll come take a look.

Not sure where to start?

Most people start with a design visit. It gives you a plan you can build all at once or one piece at a time.
