Home / How we work

Careful up high. Tidy down low.

We’re a Chattanooga tree crew that would rather prune than remove, rather rope than drop, and rather leave early than leave a mess. Here’s how a job actually goes.

The job, start to finish

No surprises on the day.

Every job follows the same steps, whether it’s one dead limb or three big oaks.

First call

You tell us about the tree.

Call, or fill in the estimate form with a photo. We’ll ask a few questions and book a time to come look.

The visit

We look, and write it down.

We walk the yard with you and look at each tree. You get a written estimate that lists:

  • Exactly which trees and which cuts
  • What happens to the wood and brush
  • Access, gear and lawn protection
  • The price, with nothing left vague
Before the day

We plan the drop zone.

We check for permits where needed, have underground lines marked before any stump work, and let you know what to move out of the way.

The work day

Climbers up, crew below.

Climbers rope in, the ground crew controls each piece on the way down, and the work area stays coned off. Mats go under heavy gear.

Before we leave

Clean up, then walk it with you.

Brush chipped, wood cut or hauled, beds and gutters checked, drive blown clean. We don’t call it done until you’ve had a look.

Safety and gear

The boring parts are the important parts.

Tree work is risky. The way to keep it safe is the same every time: the right gear, a plan and a crew that talks to each other.

  • Helmets, eyes, ears, chaps

Everyone on site, every job, including the ground crew.

  • Ropes and rigging

Climbers tie in twice. Heavy pieces are lowered, not dropped.

  • A plan for every cut

We agree on the drop zone and the order of cuts before anyone climbs.

  • Wires are the utility’s

We don’t work near energized lines. We call the utility and wait.

What we believe

Three rules we work by.

Save it if we can.

Removal is the last option, not the first. A good prune often buys a tree many more years.

Say it straight.

If a tree is fine, we’ll tell you. If it’s dangerous, we’ll tell you that too, and why.

Leave it better.

The yard should look tidier when we leave than when we arrived.
