Insurance and payment

The practical bits.

Insurance

I’m an out-of-network provider, so I don’t bill insurance directly. Many plans still cover part of the cost through out-of-network benefits. Call the number on your card and ask about “outpatient mental health, out of network.”

Superbills

If you’re paying out of pocket, I can give you a superbill each month. It’s a detailed receipt you can send to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Cancellations

Life happens. Please give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and missed sessions are charged the full session fee.

Paying without insurance? Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of what your care will cost. Just ask. Payment is accepted by card, HSA or FSA.

First-timer questions

Wondering how this all works?

If your question isn’t here, ask on the free call. Nothing is too small.

How do I know if I need therapy?

You don’t need to be in a crisis or have a diagnosis. If something has been weighing on you, or you just want a space to think out loud with someone trained to help, that’s a good enough reason.

What happens in the first session?

We’ll get to know each other. I’ll ask about what brought you in, a bit about your life and what you’re hoping for. You share what feels okay. We’ll also go over confidentiality and answer any questions you have.

How often will we meet?

Most people start weekly, since it helps build momentum. Later, many move to every other week. We decide together and adjust whenever you like.

Is what I say confidential?

Yes. What you share stays private, with a few legal exceptions, mostly related to safety. I’ll explain these clearly in our first session so there are no surprises.

What if I don’t click with you?

That’s okay, and it won’t hurt my feelings. The fit really matters. If it doesn’t feel right, I’ll gladly help you find someone who might suit you better.

Can I do some sessions online and some in person?

Yes. Many people mix both, depending on the week. Online sessions are available to anyone located in North Carolina at the time of the session.

Still have questions? Let’s talk.

The free consultation is a no-pressure way to ask about fees, insurance or anything else on your mind.
