A gentle guide

Reformer or mat?

Both build a strong, steady center. Here is how they feel different.

The reformer

A sliding carriage with springs that can support or challenge you. It guides the body into good shapes, which makes it a wonderful place to begin.

  • Springs make each movement lighter or deeper
  • Full-body, low-impact strength
  • Start with Reformer Foundations

The mat

Just you, a mat and a few simple props. Mat work is where Pilates began, building control from the inside out, and you can practice it anywhere.

  • Uses your own body as resistance
  • Lovely for posture and breath
  • Every level welcome in Mat Pilates
