Timeline
A typical tax season, step by step.
For a calendar-year business. Partnerships and S corps are due in mid-March; sole owners and C corps in mid-April. We set your exact dates on the first call.
| When | Who | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Early January | Us | We send your document list and a portal invite. |
| By late January | Us | If we run your payroll, W-2s and 1099s for your team and contractors go out. |
| February | You | You upload your documents and give us access to your books. |
| Two to three weeks later | Us | We prepare the return and send any questions in one list. |
| Before the deadline | Together | Review meeting, e-signature, and we file. Copies land in your portal. |
| After filing | Us | You get next year's estimate plan and payment reminders. |
Timing depends on when your documents arrive and how tidy your books are. If we need more time, we file an extension so you stay on track.
Questions
Good questions we hear a lot.
Which return does my business file?
It depends on how your business is set up with the IRS and your state. A single-owner LLC usually files on Schedule C with your personal return. Partnerships file Form 1065, and corporations file Form 1120-S or 1120. We confirm yours on the first call.
My books are a mess. Can you still help?
Yes. Send us your bank and card statements for the year and we can clean things up before we prepare the return. If you want, we can keep the books tidy every month after that.
Can you do my personal return too?
Yes, and it usually makes sense. Your business and personal returns are connected, so having one team on both keeps things simple.
What if I miss a deadline?
Call us as soon as you can. We can often file an extension, and if a deadline has already passed we will help you catch up and keep penalties as low as the rules allow.
Do I need to come into the office?
No. You can upload documents through the portal, meet by video and sign online. You are also welcome to drop by in person.
How much does it cost?
Pricing on request. It depends on your business type and how organized your records are. After a short call we send a clear quote before any work starts.
